How can I slow down and feel more present at home?

Over the past couple of years or so my life has been very busy. My work involves travel and I have had a lot of personal travel/events over the last few months.

All of this is enjoyable but has left me depleted and feeling like my life has no rhythm. I also find myself constantly looking to plan something, do something , improve something…..

I never used to be like this. I was always very present in my day to day life, even though I always did work travel.

I need to get back to basics, just being present at home and being a relaxed, present mother. I enjoy the house and cooking etc but find it increasingly difficult to relax into an easy rhythm.

Does anyone have advice on how to slow down or have they done anything in the past that has helped them do this.

It sounds like you’re trying to avoid being at home?
What can you organise to do at home with your children, watch a film, go for a walk, do a jigsaw…..is there a reason you can’t relax at home? I think you need to dig down and have a think about this or simply schedule in some nothing time and don’t feel guilty about it. You are allowed to do nothing! Schedule in home time, regard your time at home as being as important as your time spent away from the house be it for work or play.

You just need to break the habit of having something big/new around the corner.I Make a conscious decision to stop planning things, doing things and improving things.

Set a routine for your day and stick with it day in day out for a week and give yourself plenty of time for things you enjoy - reading a book, playing a game, pottering in the garden or cooking a lovely meal. Concentrate on being mindful about doing every thing.

It's just breaking the cycle and reminding yourself of the good life you have at home.

@Pashazade No it’s not that I am avoiding home, it is simply that I am caught in a cycle of busyness that I need to break. It’s like I am addicted to having plans and then I resent that I have them!

@DontrockthecaravanGeoffrey Good idea , the garden is looking very sad and needs some attention and rather than running around seeing people, I invited some family over for lunch on sunday and i’ll enjoy being in the house prepping and hosting that
