Hello,
Are there any HR people on here that may be able to give me a bit of clarity (unlikely as I know it’s v specific but thought it might be worth asking)
I’ve accepted a new role, it’s NOT in a school but is working directly with schools for my LA. It is term time + 3 weeks. I’m obviously not allowed to take leave outside of school holidays. They have said they do TOIL/ flexitime though if you do overtime, though not sure how you’d go about taking it if leave isn’t allowed outside of the holidays?
It hasn’t been advised yet how I will work the extra 3 weeks.
Anyway, they initially gave me a start date of w/c 24th August, then asked if I could bring it forward a week and start w/c 17th August. That would mean no time off between jobs, but okay, fine.
However, they were a while getting me a contract over to sign and they said ‘we have been sorting out how best to get you started in post before the new academic year and within the school holidays, without impacting the +3 weeks part of your contract.’
Schools start back I think 2nd/ 3rd Sept around here, which will mean, if I start w/c 17th August, I’ll have worked about 2 weeks in ‘the holidays’ however, going by the wording in the above email, it doesn’t seem like they are going to count that as any of my 3+ weeks?
I’m also not sure how they are going to calculate that in my salary as I’m paid in 12 equal amounts, taking into account the term time + 3 weeks.
I will obviously query all this with them but atm they are carrying out pre employment checks etc so it may be a while before I speak to them.
Just wondered if anyone on here could advise re those 3 weeks?
