Worried about DD's long mole on her palm- does anyone have one?

DD is 15 and for quite a few years at least 5 or 6 I’ve been aware of a mole on the palm of her hand. Not given it a lot of thought but now going through anxiety about health and worried it’s something I should have got looked at. Will book GP appointment but does anyone else have one on the palm of hand, some google searches say rare other sites say about 25% of kids have them. Please be kind as my anxiety is spiralling.

Do you have a better photo op? This is very blurry and I’m not totally sure where the mole is, is it the fuzzy looking mark at the base of her thumb? My mum has always had a mole on her palm as long as I can remember. She’s 82 and it has never caused her any problems. GP could have a quick look if you’re worried. I’ve had a couple of moles checked - never anything worrisome to date, but I always think worth asking.

I think you need to see the GP about your anxiety. I can’t see anything to be concerned about on this picture.

I agree. I can see what looks like a large freckle.

Thank you for replies, I’m hoping you are right. My husband and dad have been fighting cancer and just can’t let go that something else is going to go wrong. I’ve always suffered from health anxiety.

You don't have to live with health anxiety

and now that you are passing it on to your daughter it may be the push you need to get it under control

I have a mole on my palm . Im 55 and its been there as long as i can remember.

It looks more like a patch of pigmentation/large freckle than a mole. It doesn’t look raised. I’m not an expert though. Just someone who has loads of brown patches, moles and freckles. I’m like a map of the night sky! I don’t have any on my palms but can’t imagine that area would be any more problematic than another. I’m sorry you’re feeling anxious. My anxiety suddenly goes completely off the scale about certain things. It’s a bugger. Is your daughter worried about it?

Are you sure it wasn't there from birth? My daughter has a birthmark in that spot which you could overlook if you weren't scrutinising her.

Yeah exactly the same spot. It's like a circular patch of darkened skin rather than a more defined mole, so it's quite hard to notice.

I was born with a mole darker than your daughter's in the centre of my palm. It faded very gradually as I grew, disappearing about 10 years ago when I was in my 60s.
I'm sure there's nothing to worry about, but no harm in speaking to a doctor.

If it is new then I would get it checked just to be sure, if it was always there then it's fine. I had a freckle appear on the sole of my foot in my 30s and have a history of tumours so it was removed but results came back clear. I was told it is unusual to have new freckles on the soles of feet and palms of hands so they would be removed just as a precaution. It was a small procedure done under local and walked out of the hospital immediatly after, just told not to run for a few weeks to let it heal

I had a mole on my palm as a kid. Seems to have faded now. Never caused any trouble, and I have had multiple dermatologist checks for all moles too.

OP, is this the correct photo? You seem to have attached a photo from November 2022?
