I lied that everything is ok.
Yesterday I lied and said I had a prior engagement because I didn’t want to meet a friend today.

FYI I am slightly pissed right now.

I lied to my grown children that I was just fine when they left after they had stayed with me for a week, it was noisy and messy. But it was a lie

Told family DP is coming to stay for a week. Actually its 3.

Told mum I understood when she said she was prioritising my sister this Christmas and so wont be coming to mine (I just bought my first home) - I dont understand. Actually im hurt.

Who wants to spend time with a dishonest person you can not trust, or believe if what they tell you is true.

I told my dog that the treats were all gone but they weren't i just think that she is looking a little chubby lately

for me its when im doing different projects or when i nip out its easier to say im doing x or doing y, family relative all these years only focused on herself when she was ok and now needs others expects water under bridge, and expects the whole family to drop and wait hand on foot for her, yet she was hardly there for anyone else when they needed help etc, so yes i feel bad but if i didnt then id basically be her servant, and then only get criticised behind my back as ive heard her do many times when actually helping her.

My son had his friends round ( both brothers) and they were playing football in the garden until 10pm , the mum messaged me and said thanks for letting them stay to watch the football and could I pls send them home as soon as the final whistle went . Turns out she had told them to go home earlier and they said could they please stay as they were watching the football! I just went along with it

That I had no idea why there were hardly any chocolate hob nobs left… 😬

If I was honest every time someone asks how I am they would soon get bored and vanish over the horizon. Not so bad, say I - the truth is I feel grim! - but who wants to hear that?

Actually the opposite today - a friend forgot we had made plans and I told them I was upset and felt shit about myself because of it.

Who wants to spend time with someone who, when asked how they are, lists a whole litany of health problems every time? There is something to be said for being economical with the truth at times.
