First birthday present ideas

My LO is about to turn 1 and I have no idea what presents to buy him.
He’s not walking yet but I don’t think it will be long.
He’s a very typical baby in that he loves the kitchen cupboards, a wooden spoon and a cardboard box more than any of his actual toys. I’ve been looking at a Tonies 2 box but other than that; I’m stumped.

What presents did your 1 year old love/get a lot out of?

Wooden kitchen, it’ll last for years and get used loads, the earlier you buy it the more it’ll get used, even at just 1 year old they like pulling themselves up on it and emptying the cupboards!

We bought toy boxes for their room. The paper was great fun.

We had plastic balls in a paddling pool. Lots of fun an the pool was useful as they got older

We bought garden toys, a swing and a slide to be used for the next few years. Her sister joined soon after and they had a blast with them.

A solid book storage area. Something like this

You can buy more expensive ones. My FIL made a good solid one for our girls when they were young. Great access to books. It was well loved.
Buy some new board books, tactile noisy etc. You could have a little tent as a reading area.

For an active idea something like a Quadro set that can be made into lots of different things for indoors or out.

Empty cardboard boxes were the best present. They ignored the actual gifts. Envelopes from their birthday cards were also good fun for tearing up

He did enjoy one of these at a play cafe so it could be a good idea! Thanks.

I fully expect his actual birthday to be spent playing with the boxes but if what came in the boxes lasts him longer than a couple of months I’ll be happy!

An EVO bobble bike.

Yes the kitchen is a great idea. I bought this push trike thing for my DS and he still loves it aged 3. We rides in it when we take his sister to school every day. In theory it turns into a normal trike but I’ve not got around to working out how.
