If you had to fit 4 x day outfit and 4 x evening outfits into a 40 x 30 x 15 rucksack, what would you take? I have managed this before but with a 55cm rucksack allowance so not sure if I can make this work.

This is a city break, likely to be 28C and above so can’t simply rewear things. Happy to rinse things through to wear again but til I get there don’t know how easy it will be to get stuff dry.
The other person on the trip will be driving so has no limit and will be able to bring what they want, hence ideally being able to bring different stuff for meals out in the evening. Not the same size unfortunately so we can’t share clothes and from another country so can’t easily get my stuff to them and back again.

Friend has contacted the hotel and will bring the toiletries they don’t provide (she said conditioner and body lotion weren’t provided, just shampoo and shower gel). So o don’t need to worry about that side of things, just the clothes

what would your packing list look like?

Skimpy dresses for evening, shorts and tshirts for day?

It really depends what your fashion. 4 T-shirts for day. 1 pairs of shorts/light beach trousers. 1 dress for evening. If you have space after underwear/ shoes, perhaps a pair of linen trousers(could travel in) and an evening top. If your a dresses person, 2 day dresses, 2 dresses for evening. Alternate so each airs before next wear.
You can always use the duty free bag trick- buy something small from duty free, pay for bag and put jumper or shoes or toiletries in that bag.
For 1 weeks holiday @ 38°C heat I wore 7 tops 2 light/beach trousers (I don’t do shorts) evening -1 pair of linen trousers and a couple of evening T-shirts and 1 dress. I took loads more I didn’t wear! Although I sweat, I didn’t smell (dettol soap and pitrock deodorant stick only thing that works now peri menopausal!), so make sure your deodorant game works. If there is no weight limit on your bag, look at vacuum bag system to compact it all.

Could you order some things on next day delivery to their address for them to pack for you? Ah, just read again that’s probably not going to be possible!
I mean it’s doable but I’ll happily rewear day time clothes as evening stuff and go bare minimum on things like toiletries, I don’t wear makeup anyway and stuff like deodorant is usually easy to pick up depending on where you’re going! I’d also wear trainers and not pack other footwear.

I usually struggle to pack when I go to my dad's as I take wine with me, but this time I had room to spare cause my clothes were compressed.
