Neighbours bonfires everyday

The neighbours who's garden backs onto ours hace had a bonfire every single day for the last three weeks. It's always at random times, can be in the middle of the day, evening, whenever.

The smoke billows over the back of the fence into our gardens and means that I have to close doors and windows as I have asthma.

Realistically, is there anything I can actually do about it or do I have to put up and shut up?

I also find it weird that you would need a bonfire everyday. Who has that much stuff to burn?!?

It's anti social and inadvisable in this weather. Report to your local council

I live in a smokeless zone (Derbyshire) so no bonfires are allowed, apart from 5th November. I’d ask them firstly, then if it carried on report them to Environmental Health.

Are you in the countryside? Do they have a large garden? Bonfires are common where I live as gardens are too big to get rid of all the garden waste in the fortnightly bin collections and the nearest tip is a 40 min car journey. But definitely not every day. You can report this to the council and there are often rules about when it's ok to have bonfires. Most people have them in the evening I think and usually we get a friendly text warning us in advance so we can get washing in etc.

My neighbour was furious when I put out his bonfire, he never lit it again though. If it tries to, I’ll get the hosepipe out again.

The idiot lit it 3ft from the shared fence and caused our laundry to stink of smoke. Had to rewash all of it.

I'd be really fed up too, especially with asthma. An occasional bonfire is one thing, but every day for weeks sounds excessive. If you haven't already, it might be worth having a polite chat with them first as they may not realise how much it's affecting you. If that doesn't help, I'd look into whether your local council can advise, as persistent smoke can sometimes be treated as a nuisance.

I live in a fairly large village, we are somewhat rural but not massively so if that makes sense.

We also have a tip literally two minutes down the road. I hate being "that person" who goes to the council but definitely considering it.

Bonfires in this weather is insane, they are lucky they haven't caused a wider fire.

Personally I’d report it without speaking to them first. I used to live somewhere where the neighbours had a bonfire every night and would throw all sorts of rubbish onto it. Such odd behaviour. Almost like pyromania.
