Is my husband hiding something ?

My husband and I have always shared the passwords to each other’s phones, and we’ve never had any issues with using one another’s devices. It’s never been about insecurity—we’ve just always been open with each other.
Today we were talking about our favourite exotic fruits, and since my phone was charging, I was using his phone to look up pictures while we both read about the different fruits and their health benefits. He was completely fine with me using it.
While I was browsing, I accidentally tapped a WhatsApp notification, and the app opened. The moment he saw WhatsApp on the screen, he suddenly jumped up, took the phone straight out of my hands, and said he needed it because he was watching something on YouTube and wanted to continue watching it. What confused me was that we had been using Google together, and he hadn’t been watching YouTube at all.
I asked him why he reacted like that because he’s never behaved that way before when I’ve used his phone. Even on previous occasions when WhatsApp has been open, he’s never seemed bothered. He repeated that it was because he wanted to continue watching YouTube.
A little while later, he came into the room and asked why I thought he was hiding something, saying he’d never hidden anything from me before and asking why I was acting as though he had something to hide.
I don’t want to overthink, but it was just weird.
What are your thoughts on this? Am I overthinking it, or does his reaction seem unusual?

If it was totally out of character- which from what you say it certainly appears to have been - then yes it looks as though there was something he was anxious that you didn't see..

He definitely didn’t want you to see something - but could have been anything - planning a present or birthday surprise, he’s been moaning about you to a friend, another woman etc etc. I feel like if there was something like an affair he would have taken the phone off you as soon as you picked the phone up rather than when WhatsApp came up…

Something is up. As to what, I don’t know.

There was something he didn’t want you to see by the sounds if it but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s cheating on you or anything. He could have been having a moan about you. Maybe he’s actually doing something nice like sorting an anniversary surprise.

Yes there was clearly some he was worried about you seeing.
