Stamford pubby lunch for 6 of us?

Know Stamford a little...meeting family on a Sunday, just want a middle of the road pubby lunch. Doesnt have to be a roast.

Not The Crown as gone very expensive and small portions. Not The George as mega bucks

Anyone recommend anywhere?

Was going to say The George. I think their terrace restaurant is a bit cheaper than the main dinning room. If burgers (that sort of vibe suits), the Kings Head is lovely.

"Pubby" lunch?

What fresh hell is this?

I'd let it go as a typo just in the title, but you have repeated it in your OP

ApolloandDaphne · 17/07/2026 20:32

It is a lunch in a pub. Not hard to understand.

Tobie Norris
The Crown
Bull & Swan
Millys Bistro

Eggybreadwithnuts · 17/07/2026 23:28

Cosy club too pricey £19 for a bowl of pasta!

George far too expensive

Just a normal pub lunch

I'm paying very similar prices in my local Chef and Brewer pub... But Cosy Club is tastier!

You want to go to the Danish Invader. A bit of a walk out of town but worth it.

What is your price range?
Do you need to pay for all six people?

piscofrisco · 18/07/2026 05:46

The Toby Noriss
Millys Bistro at The William Cecil

or out of town The Bertie Arms at Uffington or Rutland Nurseries (very bouji garden centre).

booking essential at all

No you very much don’t.

piscofrisco · 18/07/2026 05:52

You could also try Downstairs at The Slanted Door, (cheaper than the fine dining upstairs) or Central Cafe on Red Lion Square if you don’t need somewhere licensed or restaurant-y.

They do a roast. But it’s very football focussed in there and can be a bit intimidating.

The Bill and Swan is usually pretty good.

LoafofSellotape · 18/07/2026 08:02

We had a fantastic meal at Tobie Norris. Make sure you book.
