Allowing a child to urinate in public at a pub

We were at a lovely New Forest pub the other day. sitting outside with lots of other customers. There was a large party at the table behind us - about 10 mixed adults and children. A boy aged about 8 said to his mother that he needed the loo - she didn't take him to the loos inside, but proceeded to lower his shorts and pants and let him urinate on the grass near their table!! I could not believe my eyes! What is the matter with people? Don't they have any sense of decency any more?

Basically no. They don’t. Takes 2 minutes to take him to the toilet in the pub.

Gross!!!

That’s disgusting, even a toddler should be taken to the toilet. Lazy parenting.

We were parked up in Tesco car park a few weeks ago, a family came back at the same time as us, I told my kids to get in on my side and scooch across. A child around 8 years old came hurtling down the passenger side and shouted he needs a p*ss to his dad. Other kids open both back passenger doors to get in and my kids could see the boy having a pee. Luckily nothing parked at that side. I don’t think it would have stopped the boy though. Parents got in and they drove off as though it was nothing. Pee puddle left on the floor. Was shocked at the parent and child for so many reasons but just thought I can only teach my kids not to behave that way. Luckily the kids were grossed out by it and asked why didn’t his parents take him to the toilet? I said I don’t know I’m wondering that too. I hate it when adults pee in public too. We’d gone into town for a few drinks (I like to stay local but was meeting a group in town) the other night and was hailing a taxi…a big group of people were coming towards us and started shouting/laughing…I turned round to see a guy was peeing up the side of a fire exit door. He thought it was hilarious. He could have gone in and asked the restaurant or the pub two doors up but nope he had to show off.

Assuming no SN, surely an 8 yo can just take himself to the loo.

Very inappropriate at that age. The mother should have more respect for the child's privacy, never mind the general grossness.

People are weird. Really.

That's horrible and not dignified for the child either. Only time it's acceptable is during potty training and no toilet available. An 8 year old can wait if necessary, which it wasn't!

Kids usually aren't allowed in the pub unaccompanied, so it was just the mother/father being lazy bastards.

It's not ok, but adult men and women seem to think it's fine to go in alleyways (I know some people have genuine medical issues, but I'm talking about all the ones who do it between pubs/clubs on nights out).
On the beach is another issue as well. Ok, I suppose it's better than the needles and used condoms, but human waste on the beach is gross, yet the council seems to think it's fine, because they just ban dogs and don't mind about the huma mess.

That’s really odd and just undignified for a child as old as 8!! I’d just about understand if it was a newly potty trained 2YO and there was a queue for the loo and they weren’t going to make it but 8 years old wtaf.

When working for a well known holiday chain, it was disgustingly regular that we had to ask people to please go and use the baby changing facilities and not to change their baby’s shitty nappy on the middle of the table in the restaurant or bar 😫

My French SIL used to encourage my nephew to do this.
