Will this summer's heat lead to mandatory air conditioning in new homes?

Do you think that the weather we are experiencing this summer will lead to the Government introducing legislation which will make builders install AC as standard in new homes? Or once the summer is over will it all be forgotten again until next time?

I doubt it. There’s more environmentally friendly ways to build for heat and given we only get a short stint of high temps, it’d be impractical to mandate air con. And it’s not in keeping with environmental targets.

What? There isnt even mandatory solar panels on roofs, something Ive been banging on about for years. Talk about the easiest possible way to build our resources of green, free energy, EVERY single new building should have roof tiles which are solar. But they're not.

I doubt it, not being a hot country all year round.

Part O is utter bullshit.
I still see newbuilds, built after Part O, with no solar control glass and no externa shading.

Part O requires thermal modelling, but based on historical temperatures, which grossly underestimate the risk of the heat getting worse over time.
There are also bullshit assumptions on people promptly opening all windows, which isn't always feasible nor safe to do.

I have been in flats built after Part O. They are still greenhouses. Part O is great in theory but bullshit in practice
