Cheshire recommendations!

autumngirl714 · 17/07/2026 08:55

Does anyone have any good recommend for days out for the kids round Cheshire/wrexham way.
We are spending a day at crocky trail, and my boys LOVE that kind of vibe.
They are 6 and 9. Love climbing and exploring. Not massively bothered about animals. They would be too old for the ice cream farm.
are there any indoor pools with slides or other adventure parks? Don’t mind a little drive but nothing too big as coming from north Lancashire!
I was thinking of bewilderwood but not sure if it’s too young for them?
woudl really appreciate any ideas ☺️

Have you tried Wepre Park? Nice play area, room to have a picnic, ice cream shop and a great walk upto a ruined castle, which you can explore

notyouimean · 17/07/2026 12:59

There’s Bewilderwood, which I didn’t massively rate tbh, but they are a good age for it.

Manley mere adventure trail is fab!

My dc and friends like swimming here:

We used to also take them here!

Hawkestone Park Follies is brilliant.

Wolf’s Den outdoor play area at Erddig used to be a favourite with my two at that sort of age

Theres also a (free!) splash park on Sandy Lane in Chester - this might be more aimed at your 6 year old than the 9 year old but it was great in hot weather

Teachermum12345 · 17/07/2026 18:38

Manley Mere is really good!

Apple jacks near warrington

Easterchicken · 17/07/2026 20:16

Manley mere is truly AMAZING
Delemere forest loads of walks go ape a cafe lots to do
Chester for a city walk sick to death is a little museum there which is gross and fun
There's a good few bouldering and climbing centres around there
Water world isn't in Cheshire but it's in Stafford and not far about an hour from crockey trail
There's alot of "treasure trial"
Manchester and Liverpool both close with loads to do
Tatton park
Altrincham
Dunham Massey
Walton gardens in Warrington if go apes a bit too big

JessicaPeach · 17/07/2026 20:21

Bewilderwood is fine for 6 and 9, probably ideal ages. I don’t think they are too old for the ice cream farm either, especially the 6yo. Chester zoo, blue planet (but only if you get an offer and combine with something else as it’s expensive and quick otherwise!) Go Ape, Climbing hut, the boardroom (also climbing) Park in the Past (Wrexham), Wildshore, Walton Park

LassitersLegend · 17/07/2026 21:06

Delamere forest and they have go ape there and also wild shore in Delamere for outdoor water activities.
I'd also recommend a day out in Chester walking around the Roman walls and the amphitheatre.
Gullivers world in Warrington is good for your age of children.
The secret bunker near Nantwich and the train museum in Crewe.
I know you mentioned that they aren't overly bothered about animals, but Reaseheth zoo might be worth a visit

ThatBlueHedgehog · 17/07/2026 22:54

loggerheads is good for walking, climbing, exploring - only £2.50 to park and you can take a picnic. There’s a good cafe too but can be pricy. Lovely loos which is always a good thing!

There’s also Rhyl Sun centre that’s got the water slides etc.

dahliadream · 18/07/2026 07:24

Bewilderwood or the Ice Cream Farm!

dahliadream · 18/07/2026 07:25

There's also Water World which I hate but fits your description!

LL41 · 18/07/2026 08:01

Greenwood is a lovely family day out - adventure park, eco rollercoaster, loads of things to do
GreenWood Family Park

Mrp123 · 18/07/2026 08:38

Check out Manorafon Farm parks summer adventure, in north wales it has a huge water slide sand area foam party, and loads of extras going on even if the kids aren't particularly bothered by animals there's still loads to do!

Take a boat ride over the aquaduct.
https://www.anglowelsh.co.uk/little-star/

You can get a 45 min trip for a tenner for adults, can’t remember how much children are, or hire a self drive boat for the day, it also close to Ty Mawr country park which is lovely.

Oh this is a brilliant shout, I didn’t know there was a boat trip! I’ll add that to my list for the summer, thanks!

AMillionPeopleCheering · 18/07/2026 11:19

Chester Zoo or Go Ape at Delamere Forest - or just Delamere Forest in general.
