Thermos jug just exploded!

Bought a thermos jug and quite impressed as keeps water cold all day. Just gone to refill put some ice in as I always do and it exploded...the inside is shattered!!!!

I wouldn't use it for your drink tomorrow then.

Did you buy it from a legitimate shop / website? Or somewhere shady!!!

I used to work in a lab and we used these to transport ice (and dry ice - solid carbon dioxide) around the building. This would happen very frequently and always a shock when it did. I was holding one once and it scared the life out of me!

I had an insulated sauce/gravy jug that did that. It just went bang when I was scraping out the last of some gravy, the noise was astonishing

I was given a stainless steel water bottle a few weeks ago and am amazed by how cold it keeps my water! I think it must be double-walled. If I put ice chips in it it still has ice in it 24 hours later, even in this hot weather!

Not a jug but a camping mug just shattered as I was pouring boiling water in to it. Hot water all over my foot. Thankfully had my camping crocs on so only small amounts went through the holes.
