Are your Yr 6 dc having any sort of event/end of year celebration?

Talking to a friend, they had a whole day yesterday at school with presentation, play, graduation etc. A parent has organised a big camp out for lots of the friends, pizza, camp fire, smores etc. for tomorrow night.

I feel now that I should have irganised something but clearly too late! Was just going to have a nice night at home. 😬 with fave food, snacks etc

Three showings of the Y6 play
Y6 leavers party
A night away in a youth hostel with mums
A leavers assembly
A Y6 leavers mass at the church
A whole school leavers mass on the school
A picnic in the park on the last day

We had a leavers assembly
Leavers hoodies
Leavers disco
Party in the park after school with lots of food, wine and games til dark. It was brilliant.

We had their end of year production in school last Friday. Followed by their prom at a local hotel (organised by parents) in the evening. On Monday evening we had a leavers' mass and there was an awards assembly yesterday. Tomorrow they will finish early so parents can clap them down the path as they leave. Then most of us will go to the local pub with a large grass beer garden afterwards.

Oh god. Feel pretty crap now! It is a small school with mixed class so not too many leavers. Even so. 😭

Here they are having a party Monday evening in the hall with BBQ then a leavers service (c of e school) on Wednesday after which they return to school for bring and share party food (nightmare in its self with allergies) and lollies.

Don't feel bad op! It's very OTT to do anything for a year 6! It's all done at school, my child had a Y6 production, a Y6 assembly that went on for bloody ages giving out awards, then a little walk around parade where the rest of the school clapped them. School hoodies. They had a hotdog evening as well. You don't need to do anything extra they are carrying on their education it's not like they are leaving for uni. Proms for Y6 that's well ott imo. Nothing wrong with what you suggested a night in with snacks.

@Theworldsgonemadagain this is the thibg, the school arent doing anything. Just the leavers assembly.

Benefit of a small school not too many people to get onboard or difficult to organised. Why not suggest something towards the end of the school holidays to celebrate?
