Help take my mind off period pain!

Morning,

I have the worst period pain today. It was awful last night, I woke up shaking and feeling sick. Not too bad this morning, but like always it's growing (along with all the other wonderful symptoms).

I'm actually pleased(!) because I am on holiday next week and I was really worried it'd come then (a bit unpredictable) At least I can get the 4 days off bad pain out the way before I go.

I'm working from home today but really struggling to concentrate on much.

Maybe you can tell me what you're up to today to help take my mind off it?

I have endometriosis so sympathise with the pain. I'm actually having a good spell for once but typically I am now trying to fend off a migraine instead. I think my body just loves to take the piss really!

I am working but today I've decided as it is the last couple of days of term all the Kiddo's I see will enjoy playing Jenga, Uno and Connect 4! I'm also shopping online for my holiday in between visits. Only halfway through weight loss journey so all summer clothes are still a bit too small but refuse to spend a week feeling like shit in what I'm wearing so treating myself to a few really nice dresses and a bikini.

Im off work and it’s my kids sports day, DDs first one, she’s been ridiculously excited all week. They often do a sibling race at the end so she’ll be able to race against her older brother.

I need to do some gardening bits, pond cleaning and carrot picking. I also want to finish reading my book and pick out a new one for start.

Hope the pain subsides soon for you, period pain is awful.

The absolute best cure period pains I've found is a terrible disaster film called Atomic Train. It has Rob Lowe, Charlotte from Sex and the City, and a whole host of other recognisable actors, and is stuffed with cliches. Two separate occasions about a year apart I woke in the night feeling horrendous, switched on the tv when it happened to be playing, watched it, then felt so much better. I've sworn by it ever since.

Sorry you are feeling so rough, hope you find a good solution and the pain reduces soon.

Being female really sucks sometimes 😔 We get the raw end of the deal with periods! I'm 39 and still resent mine every month. I don't know if you've spoken to a GP but don't suffer in silence, there are things they can give to help. I used to suffer so badly that i'd curl into a ball and cry, but weirdly since having children mine are pain free now. I hope you feel better soon!

Hope your period pain has got better. I have endo but I’m ‘lucky’ in that it’s chocolate cysts so only contained around my ovaries. Sympathies are with you

I hope you are feeling better, if it helps my girls rate Buscopan Cramps tablets (not the IBS ones) to relieve the pain, my eldest has an antihistamine for the sickness that helps, and Mefenamic Acid taken the week before helps to reduce the prostaglandins that build up before your period and cause the bad cramping and sickness.

What painkillers are you using OP?
It is the worst though isn’t it? I find when mine is at its worst, and before the painkillers kick in (which can take a good hour) I can’t sit still or really concentrate on anything but the pain.
