Started a new job recently in a new firm.
Been told not to ask questions of colleagues training/handing over to me and need to figure out things myself. Told it’s the “best way of learning”. This is fair if I pose questions which are in the handover information, and I can’t be bothered to look for it but 9/10 it isn’t. It’s a very niche role and when I am asking a question, it is because I’ve not come across this in the role before and there is nothing in the handover information. Boss confirmed they would rather I cock something up and then correct it, instead of asking questions. I’ve not really had this approach before, in any role I have had and I am pretty baffled. Any advice?
