Private teacher tutor - Ks1/Ks2

Hi everyone
i I am looking for a qualified primary teacher (rather than a university student) to provide 1:1 support for my daughter who is entering year 3
we are based near Ladywell and we are looking for help with maths and English
ideally qualified teacher
experience with Ks1/Ks2
available for home tutoring locally

personal recommendations would be greatly appreciated

I’m not against Tutors. I think they can be very useful. I had one at a similar age to help me keep up. Just wish my DPs had done some dyslexia screening but it was a long time again and I’m not sure they would have even have heard of it.

You might have more luck looking on a UK Directory of Independent Tutors where you just pay a small one off finder's fee and pay the tutor directly rather than ongoing commission on every lesson like the big platforms like TutorHunt (32% commission) etc do. The commission free/finders fee model platform also has all the trust signals checking ID, validating safeguarding and even go one step further than some and actually checking teaching qualifications - on Tutorful you can just self declare!

Tutoring advice for your specific needs: Message 4-5 tutors once you've narrowed down using filters to find a personality that suits your child, lots of tutors offer trial lessons. I'd look for someone with recent KS1/KS2 experience, not just a teaching qualification - look on their profiles for that. Ask how they assess gaps, tailor lessons, and build confidence, and check they have an Enhanced DBS, verified identity, and read their parent reviews. A short introductory call is also worthwhile to make sure they're a good fit for your daughter, as personality and teaching style can be just as important as experience.

Local Facebook groups or neighbours Whatsapp groups can be good places to ask for tutor recommendations. Remember to ask the tutor about their teaching qualifications and experience, safeguarding training and enhanced DBS check.
