I don’t recognise myself at all.

I believe I am in peri, lots of things would indicate this.
I am only 43 but my mum was 43 when she reached menopause.
I have always been a people pleaser but lately I just feel like doing as I please, I don’t want to consider Dh and would rather just get on with life my own way.
I have a lot less patience with people but also feel much more laid back about what others think, I don’t feel the same consciousness about what I wear or do and I’m certainly not looking for anyone’s approval.

Dh hasn’t changed at all, he’s just the way he’s always been but I just don’t feel the need to be so accommodating or agreeable and he keeps asking if I’m ok with him, which I am but I have become more comfortable saying no and I am quite happy just being by myself and doing my own thing.

I am still courteous and respectful to others but I don’t feel the need to please anyone or consider their needs before my own as I always have.
I have less patience and can feel quite irritable but then I generally feel more care free.

I don’t recognise this shift in me, I assume it’s hormones but will this pass or is this me now?

Seems normal. Declining oestrogen means your caring mode is dialled down.

It's not your caring mode being dialled down, it's your tolerance level.😁

Small things start to cause you considerable irritation and although you would have easily accepted or shrugged them off in the past, you don't do that any more.

Have a look at the We Do Not Care Club.

Enjoy your perimenopause OP, I was robbed of one due to BC treatment and went from having regular periods to full menopause in two weeks, that was not a pleasant experience for me or anyone around me 🤬😱😵

I get what you mean about having less patience but also being more laid back, it's conflicting but in a strange way is really logical and liberating.
