How much spending money for a week away in the uk?

Family of 5 accommodation is paid for.

How much spending money would you need?
Days out will include some attractions and meals out and evening drinks at the site bar.

I took £700 for a week in Cornwall for 3 of us. That included all food, drinks, day trips on the train, souvenirs.

With small children and assuming some low cost stuff such as kiddie disco, beach and picnics. 400-700. I’d struggle to spend £1000 when children are that small. Save it for when they are teenagers and you’re buying five adult meals!

I always budget £700 for week.

We're a family of four and budget £100 a day. That seems to land about right for us as we mainly spend on food rather than attractions. We're happy with a mooch about local towns, going to the beach, arcades etc. If you were wanting to go to zoos and theme parks then that would quickly add up.

I'd say £1,000 unless you want ro be really frugal that probrably includes eating in a few times and picnic lunches.

Please tell me that was fish and chips in a restaurant prices, not just from a takeaway chippie?!

For cheap food ( & drink) Wetherspoons. But approach with care. Some are good, Moon Under Water in Leicester Sq for one, but a few are a little bit rough. If you want a traditional pub, the further away from London the cheaper.

If we self-cater we normally take a picnic lunch and buy a coffee/icecream.

I take snacks and fruit with me and plenty of drinks. Especially at attractions these things are so expensive and often not worth it.

Supermarket meal deals are often a good halfway house between making your own lunches every day and queuing up to pay ££££s for shit food at attractions. The cheapest start from about £4 for sandwich/salad, side and drink.

Or it's often cheaper, and might be easier to do with a 2 YO to have a meal out at lunchtime and then have something light/easy in the accommodation in the evening.

Our local fish and chips takeaway costs us £44 for the three of us - one large chips and curry sauce (not even any fish for dh), me and Ds aged 14 have cod and chips and a curry sauce each and that’s it! It’s ridiculously expensive now (South Norfolk).

I wish I could 🙈. In fairness it was a bit fancy but 2 x fish and chips, 1 fish and battered prawns, 3 homemade tartar sauce and 2 bottles of water.

I had fish and chips takeaway today it was £11.70 for fish and chips, £8 for sausage and chips. So I'm going to guess that's takeaway prices.
