Home mirror normal v shop mirror Golum

Can someone please explain why I look reasonably OK in the mirror at home but am proper hideous in every shop mirror I'm unlucky enough to catch a glimpse
of myself in?
Not even starting on the spy camera thing at the self service tills - if I ever decided to leg it out without paying I'd be horrified if they could actually identify me from the pictures.

😂😂 this made me laugh. So relatable!

Why is it that I take a photo of myself and look relatively ok? My eyes are horizontal and level, my chins are behaving, my clothes seem to fit ok and make me look normal.

Then someone else photographs me, in the wild ....and I suddenly look like a meat orb that got dressed in the dark using only things from a table at a jumble sale, my hair looks like that weeping beardy moss stuff that drapes from the trees in the Florida swamps, one of my eyes is suddenly at a 45° angle to the other one, my teeth look like a museum exhibit on Victorian dentistry, skin with the texture of unraked gravel..

HORROR

😂

Is your home mirror flat against the wall and the shop mirror slightly angled? I went to a hotel feeling like I looked ok when I left home and looked like a hobbit when I arrived at the hotel. I realised the top of the mirror was around 1cm away from the wall and the bottom touched the wall - the small difference made a surprisingly big impact.

I find the opposite. I'm sure there's some trickery to make you look slimmer in shop changing room mirrors.

This is why I never try stuff on in shops, I always look horrific. I did chuckle at your post though, my precious.

The worst for me is my hairdressers mirror. Whereas my bathroom / dressing table mirror makes me look good, that bloody hideous mirror in the hairdressers makes me look washed out and shows every single wrinkle I didn't even know I possessed. God awful.

Just to put the tin lid on things, had physio this am and he filmed me doing exercises. Seems I've grown an extra neck. Honestly not overly bothered by looks usually, but today takes the biscuit.

Hamela - you sound nearly as seksy as me!

I go to yoga classes and in my head I look exactly like the Yoga people on instagram. Then my teacher took photos for her website and confirmed that I am indeed a dumpy, middle aged troll.
