13 month old won’t go to sleep at night- any advice?

My DD was always a great sleeper from 3 months, she’d sleep through the night (was a nightmare newborn re sleep but by 3 months was great). However for the last two months, she won’t go to sleep despite her routine being mainly the same. She only has one nap, however that does change because even when I time her feeds she doesn’t always go down and then falls asleep in the pram later etc. She’s always awake by 2:30pm so I think there’s enough sleep pressure?

She has to feed to sleep at night, won’t/can’t sleep without it. Anyway, she still has her bath/book/bottle routine but now just doesn’t go to sleep, is wide awake. She’s only just fallen asleep despite many attempts. We have tried putting her in her cot, leaving, coming back in to check but she pulls herself up and is standing screaming in the cot until I come back in. I don’t know what to do any any advice is greatly welcome. I have 0 time for myself, she takes up my whole evenings now as she’s awake until I go to bed.

Isn't there a 13 month sleep regression? It does improve!

Is she learning a new skill like walking?

Babies are only able to sleep a certain max amount in 24h so it’s worth thinking about the time she wakes in the morning and how long her nap is. So for example at 13m the average 24h range is 11-14h. So say she wakes 7:30am and has 2h nap but only needs 11.5h your natural bedtime would be 10pm.

it might be more of a developmental thing but I’d check your 24h sleep totals and see if that makes sense too!

Thank you all so much for replying, I really appreciate it. She wakes up between 6/7 usually, have the odd morning where it’s earlier. She is learning to walk (slowly though, only done a few steps yet). Is there something I should be doing differently?

This is a really tricky time for sleep when they are pulling up and trying to walk. The brain consolidates new learning at night and suddenly they just want to practice. It’s normal and fine. Don’t just leave her. Cuddle her, settle her, lie down next to her, whatever works. It’s just a phase, no point making it stressful and harder on yourself.

I'd cap her nap at 1 hour. We've done that since about 14 months.

Completely agree with this. Once she’s mastered walking she should settle down again Flowers
