Laid funny on sofa this afternoon, got up and boy the pain in my neck!

Ive tried doing some light exercises to keep mobile...shoulder rolls, chin dips, moving head side to side. Took paracetomol and in bed now.

Dreading getting up tomorrow after all night still in bed.

Should I get a hot water bottle on it or bag of peas????

Physio first thing? Can you afford a private appointment?

i think it’s heat for nerves but google it

Can you call 111 the electric shock when moving may need checking out -

lampplease · 14/07/2026 22:25

Heat on a compress if you have. Hope quick recovery

Do88byisfree · 14/07/2026 22:28

Heat in the short term
Avoid lifting anything at all ( i was given a 3kg max initially)
Avoid chini digs-. Insread you.kind of need to jut your chin forward and backb whole keeping your head still as this creates space between the vertebrae
Also stetch your arm out to the side , fingers pointing up and lightly.push an invisible wall.
Physio really helped me
I needed a nerve block injection in the end.
Good luck. Its miserable

Don't try and stretch it out as that further aggrivates the nerve. Have you heard if nerve flossing (or gliding, or sliding?)? My phsio and massage therapists taught me about it.

I found a physio site that has vids and info.
There are many others and YT vids if you search the term.

Ice for the first 48 hours (15 minutes at a time , ice pack wrapped in tea towel) then move to alternating between heat and ice.

This is a routine I’ve perfected after years of nerve pain and finally found something that works

hope it feels better soon
