We are going round in circles here and can’t agree. And Dh is (as usual!) very sure that his preference is best even though it might not be.
Dd is 16. Competes at a sport at high level. Has a training camp both Saturday and Sunday this weekend at a venue that is 90 minutes away or longer if in traffic. Camp is very important and she needs to be at her best for it.
Finishes at 5:30pm on Saturday. And then has to be back again at 7:30am on Sunday. (Yes - I know!!!)
Options are:-
- Come home Saturday night. Means she can sleep in her own bed, sorting out food for Sunday is easy, needs less clothing / equipment for each day. But we will get home close to 8pm on Saturday (she has to shower and change after finishing) and then go leave before 6am on Sunday. Joy!
- Stay overnight in a local hotel. We can afford it. No travelling. Means me and Dh can’t take turns. Food problematic but we are resourceful and used to it and will figure it out. Will have to take all the equipment / clothing at once. It is bloody miserable to have to leave a hotel before breakfast starts although we have a plan for what to eat.
- A friend of hers who lives about 40 mins away has said she can stay at hers. Parents are nice and we know them well. They will sort out food for her. Concern that it will turn into “super fun sleepover!” rather than serious training camp. But friends parents are pretty decent so hopefully wouldn’t let it. Still travelling and still early start on Sunday. But not as early as 1. This one has the advantage that Dh and I actually get a weekend together. It doesn’t happen very often but trying not to be biased by this!
Which would you do? Dh is convinced that 1 is by far the best. Dd desperately wants 3. I think 3 is probably best but don’t really know.
