Tips to make colonoscopy prep more tolerable

Just been informed that I'm getting both gastroscopy and colonoscopy done next Tuesday, last time I mixed gatorade powder in with it but they don't sell it where I am anymore and no delivery would be quick enough (and tbh last time it really put me off gatorade so not sure it would help this time)

I will most likely stay in a hotel as its 1.5 hours drive to the clinic which will not work after drinking the last litre! But that means I'm more limited in my options - just a small minibar fridge to keep drinks cool, won't have my fridge ice machine to make it even colder, and can't send OH to the shop to buy other options to take the taste away.

Which prep will you have? Plenvu is half the liquid (1 litre instead of 2) than moviprep so I'd request that if possible! The two halves of plenvu also different flavours which helps!

Add squash to moviprep, plenvu I drink as is.

Keep it as cold as possible.

Use a straw so it can go straight down!

Have a bottle of water to drink straight after each mouthful of the prep.

Take the prep to the loo with you as you may be there a while!

You can eat some clear sugary sweets like foxes fruits, fruit pastilles etc just not the red/purple ones. This helps. (Check this, don't just listen to me)

Start earlier than it says to!

Put the jar/ jug in the freezer and drink it icy cold.

Its colonsteril, don't know if it's the same as I had before but its 4 litres total to drink, urgh.
The nurse said I can suck things like menthol pastilles.

Will pack a straw for sure.

4 litres!!! 😱 Could you call the hospital and ask if there's any possibility of using a different prep? No harm in asking. 4 litres is insane!

I'll have a look what options there are in the pharmacy on my way home today, then call and ask if it's possible to switch

Called and asked if I could swap, the doctor said I can use picoprep instead which is only two small glasses of nasty drink (plus several litres of other fluids of course) which sounds far far more manageable!

Fizzy water helps me cope tolerate movicol - and as previous posters have suggested - use a straw

Just drank the picoprep and it was actually really drinkable
