Anyone got an Audi Q2?

Thinking of changung my car and really like the Q2.

Have you got one, what do you love about it, what dont you like about it?

Like it in general, but very little legroom in the back. My elderly parents really struggle to get in. And the SatNav is shockingly bad.

The other thing I’ve found a couple of times is that the Audi Pre-Sense kicked in and automatically applied the brakes when it had no business to, which was pretty scary.

It’s the first automatic car I’ve had so I don’t have anything to compare it with, but it handles well and has excellent boot space. I drive a mixture of countryside and motorway and it’s a good all-round car, compact enough to park easily in the multi storey at work, etc. Proper dials, etc, not those awful screens.

If I sound underwhelmed, it’s probably because I’m not that fussed about cars and see them as just functional!

Anyone else got any comments?

Dh is on his second. Personally I find the shape hard to judge distance wise but he really likes it. Parts are £££ and agree the distance alarm and brake override can be sudden.

I have my second Q2 ( have passed my first one onto my son). I really like them. Good balance of practical and fun to drive. Very easy to park ( especially compared to my previous Volvo).
Audi sat nav not great but I just use car play.

I love the style, drive and history of Audis.

But ...

They are classed as a luxury brand. With luxury costs to match.

Repairs can be horribly expensive. They are very complicated cars and for many things can only be repaired by the main dealers and they can have stupid and incredibly costly faults like gearbox oil leaks at low mileage.

They are not that reliable in my experience.

They don't tend to have great standard equipment packs, so for example mine only has rear parking sensors and no rear cameras. Ones that are fully loaded up with all the packs tend to be very pricey. Whereas on a lot of the supposed non luxury brands these things (and a lot more) come as standard.

The customer service tends to treat you like they are doing you a favour letting you own an Audi and you should have an open cheque book for fixing the horrible problems you may encounter.

If you want an Audi, it has to be because you love the styling and the brand. Because that is the only way you can justify the horrible costs of running them.

In my personal experience anyway. There is a reason why the brand is not doing so well atm.

I like them. Fun and practical. I work at a garage and I disagree about the reliability and price of parts. Kia, Peugeot and Citroen are more expensive parts. Parts for Audi are generally easy to source. . Personally I'm always surprised that Audi and BMW parts aren't too expensive. They're a lot more reliable than a Land Rover or Nissan in our experience (we get a lot of breakdowns brought in and these are the usual break downs, particularly Qashqais). I agree they can be complex to repair with the gearboxes and mechatronics units causing the biggest issues for us, but based on how many we see coming in it isn't many.

I suppose I am feeling it a bit after laying out many thousands in the past 12 months on a car with less than 40k miles on the clock on faults that I believe should no way happen on a car that old. That is without fixing the potential oil leak.

You obviously see more of them than me (I have owned 2), I can only go on my limited personal experience.

Really no comparison between them and Ford on cost of ownership. Ford were miles cheaper, had fewer things go wrong and were much easier to DIY.

Also if an independent can't fix a Ford then they shouldn't be in business, but finding an independent to go at an Audi that you trust is much harder.

I wouldn't say don't buy one if that's what people like, but I would say go into it with eyes open.

I have driven one before whilst my car was getting resprayed, it was easy to park as it’s not really an SUV, just an A1/A3 on stilts. It was also decently fast but the boot and rear legroom was a let down. Audi pre sense is also a nightmare, it is far too sensitive and has been known to throw the brakes on suddenly and without much warning.

I owned one of the first ones and just sold it recently because I have a company car. It’s probably the best car I’ve ever owned honestly! It never let me down once in 8 years, other than the usual car costs that you would expect like breaks and tyres it never needed any other repairs.
If I had to pick out anything I really didn’t like, it would probably be that the pre-sense used to go off a lot in very heavy rain or snow which scared me a bit sometimes but overall a really positive experience.

So easy to drive and park. I drive a lot and it has never given me any bother. As someone else said its just for brakes and tyres the usual wear and tear. its 2018. The pre sense hasn't been an issue for me. I'd recommend it.

I have a q2 - the crazy abrupt stopping is a downside of audi pre-sense. Leg room in back is small.
