I've worked all weekend at an event as a chef.
It's been ridiculously hot and busy.
I don't mind as it's my job and I'm used to it.
Part of my journey is off track so I walk 4 miles and bus about ten minutes.
My phone gets little signal as it's rural.
I get home to find dh washing his car.!!
He had zero plans today and knew roughly my finish time.
What kind of person wouldn't realize how bloody hot I would be.
Cold bath and drinks for me but really!!

Absolute selfish bastard!

Notsurenotsurenotsure · 12/07/2026 16:21

No, I wouldn't expect someone to guess what time I was finishing and try and meet me when they had no way of contacting me to see if I had finished early/late. They would have to get there extra early to be sure and sit around in a hot car. If you wanted a lift then you should've arranged it this morning.

UrbanSoul · 12/07/2026 16:25

You should have asked him to pick you up before you left for work.

Daisydoesnt · 12/07/2026 16:25

OP if you mean, should your DH have come to pick you up then, no, I don’t think he should have. He knew roughly what time you were finishing, but could have been sat in a stinking hot car waiting for you, or worse, you could have crossed paths and he’d have been sat outside whilst you were already o your way home.

why on earth didn’t you make arrangements before you left to get a lift home from him?

somanychristmaslights · 12/07/2026 16:34

So you’re angry that he should have come and picked you up? What is he, a mind reader??

Thevegetarianchef · 12/07/2026 16:41

Fair play.
It's a 15 minute drive and I didn't wake him at 5 am as he watched the football last night.
He could have had a cold drink from the stall but fair enough it's my problem.

OP posts:
CeffylCoch · 12/07/2026 16:41

You could have asked? He’s not a mind reader

Nousernameideaaga · 12/07/2026 16:43

did you ask him to?

if yes YANBU

if no YABU

WhatAMarvelousTune · 12/07/2026 16:44

My DH can’t drive (for medical reasons) and no, I don’t pick him up unless we’ve pre-arranged it. I don’t want to arrive at roughly the right time, with the potential that he’s already left, especially in the situation you’ve described with patchy phone signal.
You knew yesterday how hot it would be, so why not ask then for him to pick you up?

Rizzz · 12/07/2026 16:45

Did he wash his crystal ball too?

PashaMinaMio · 12/07/2026 16:45

Think about it.
You did not need to wake him.

Just leave a note on the kitchen table next time.
If he turns up before you’ve finished, I expect he can entertain himself for a bit.
