Tinder.

Read his profile thought he sounded absolutely perfect and got very excited very luckily for me he was exactly as described on the tin.....

I saw his profile on an online dating site in 1995 and asked him to have dinner with me. The site was so new that it was free to use and didn't host pictures. Fortunately, he turned out to be quite good-looking.

We've been happily married for 29 years and have two lovely adult children.

What did you say? I feel like I need to do the same

Oh that's something I wouldn't want to post on mumsnet!

Hinge. I saw his picture and thought he just looked so nice and not like the others. And i was right! (His mum has that picture on her wall, I now know)

At a rave in Brooklyn.

Interested to hear @MissConductUS ’s story and why it’s been hidden by MN!!

It was hidden because I mentioned the name of the OLD site where I hunted him down met him. I've retold the story without that detail.

😄

University reunion through friends of friends. Just celebrated 20th wedding anniversary.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 12/07/2026 16:01

Husband. He worked a cover shift at my pub and then transferred because he “moved house”. He later admitted he transferred because of me, and he was commuting like 40 mins vs his old 10 min walk. He also volunteered to do the rotas so he could put us on all our shifts together.

In other circumstances he would have been stalker but it was okay because he’s fit.

TheIdlerReturns · 12/07/2026 16:02

Scuba-diving.

A dating agency, he tells people we met on the undateables.

Crunchymum · 12/07/2026 16:04

Well we were 15, and it was 1995. He was a friend of my brothers

(We were together 3 years and then went off to Uni. We met again randomly when we were 27 at pub chucking out time, we came out of different bars)

darkandgloomy · 12/07/2026 16:12

We worked for the same company, then we both left. He then done some work on my house and the rest is history!

mindutopia · 12/07/2026 16:19

At a cheap shitty bar 😂 He ordered the cheapest wine on the menu made in a bucket out back and I said, that’s going to make you ill and laughed at him for being so foolish.

Harrietsaunt · 12/07/2026 16:24

Past college, I met all my exes at work.

PurpleCoo · 12/07/2026 16:31

Saw a previous post that wasn't shown because the name of the dating app was used!

I used the dating app where women message men first if you swipe on each other. I only messaged 3 people and met him a few days after joining and that was that. Still together nearly 7 years later.

That being said I think I would find it easy to meet men now based on the amount of men that try to chat me up (without any encouragement as I am not interested as happy with my partner). I think it helps that I am a friendly chatty sort that does the sort of hobbies that people will chat to others doing or randoms come and ask you what you are doing and be interested. Also owning a dog helps, and going to the gym 4 a lot, doing classes where people are sociable. Also being a hiker, you meet a lot of people on trails/popular walks.

Travel is a good way to meet people too. I have a motorhome, and when you go touring around Scotland and whatnot, you see the same people doing the same routes and get chatting. I also travel abroad alone, and again, people tend to approach solo travellers. If you are in places like Asia or South America and traveling around, other travellers chat to you and you end up hanging out with randoms.

I think just looking like an independent woman quietly and confidently living her best life and having an adventure just attracts people really. I do a lot of activities on my own as I have different interests to my partner, so people just come and chat and ask about my lifestyle. This is men and women of all ages, but I imagine it would be easy to find a partner this way.

Seagulldancing · 12/07/2026 16:35
