Well, that’s it really. DS is turning 7 in August but would like a birthday party when term starts and everyone’s back from holiday. Last year, all the children with August birthdays had a big party but he wants something smaller with a group of 7 or 8 friends. I’ve found a company that will come to your house with lots of video game stuff and run a party which I think DS and his friends will like. Weekends are always busy with activities and there are lots of other parties planned already so I was thinking of after school on Friday.
DH and I would pick up the kids, bring them home (less than 5 min walk), do the gaming stuff and then order some pizza for them. Parents can pick up from 6 and always stay for a drink if they want. There are no activity clubs on a Friday at school although the wraparound care operates. I know that some people have activities on a Friday like swimming etc but I figured people can choose whether or not they want to skip. We had a school-organised event on a Friday afternoon a few weeks ago that everyone came to.
Does that sound okay? We were thinking the first Friday of term in case some activities haven’t started at that stage. If you were (or are!) a parent whose child is invited, would you let them come?
