allymccoist · 12/07/2026 08:05

Not wine or chocolates. Flowers would be over budget.

I need to get thank you gifts for 6 people I don’t know well to thank them for volunteering for something. What would your go to gift be?

Heartfelt thank you or a card for me please

GrumpySparkler · 12/07/2026 08:07

A nice card expressing my heartfelt thanks with a scratch card or two in it.

MidnightPatrol · 12/07/2026 08:08

You can get a bunch of flowers for £5 in the supermarket.

I agree a nice card is probably sufficient

There are really nice hardback notebooks in Ryman in all colours. There are £9.99 but they are but one get one free. I have gifted them a lot over the years and they go down well. I’ve just gift 2 a4 ones as part of a leaving gift for a colleague. Also I use them at work and people walk past my desk and ask about them as they are really nice. Hope this helps

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 12/07/2026 08:09

Does this group meet regularly?
in which case - an ice cream!

VIII · 12/07/2026 08:09

A thank you card would be perfectly sufficient.

ThatPearlSnail · 12/07/2026 08:12

Aldi/Lidl do Amaryllis kits around that price

luckylavender · 12/07/2026 08:13

Costa voucher

senua · 12/07/2026 08:16

If they put in time and effort for you, can you do time and effort back? Can you do nice 'handmade' without it looking cheap? Bath salts, jam, biscuits, etc

Bjorkdidit · 12/07/2026 08:16

You can usually get a nice simple bunch of flowers like tulips or roses for £5. If biscuits are suitable, something boxed, eg M&S Florentines come in a nice box and are just under £5.

momager22 · 12/07/2026 08:17

Coffee shop?

RocketLollyPolly · 12/07/2026 08:29

£5 coffee shop voucher
M&S do a little plant in a pot for £5

Candle?

I like the scratch card idea too

Bjorkdidit · 12/07/2026 08:29

Nice hand cream?

Passthecake30 · 12/07/2026 08:32

What did they volunteer for op?

WhoWhereWhatWhy · 12/07/2026 08:33

You can get flowers in M&S for £5
A plant? Garden centre might be best for this
Biscuits
Jar of jam or marmalade
Novel
Magazine - home or gardening or hobby related or something like good housekeeping/woman and home
M&S perfume (can always use as a room spray) - there are sets that are three for £16 so you could split them up and everyone gets a 30ml one each

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 12/07/2026 08:34

I know this is audience dependent, but M&S have little succulents in ceramic pots at £6. I bought a cockatoo one the other day, they had other animal options. I have no clue why I liked it, I really shouldn’t have🤣, but it was so cute.

PermanentTemporary · 12/07/2026 08:36

I’d be most pleased by the coffee shop voucher.

unfamiliarwithyourwork · 12/07/2026 08:36

@allymccoist - would you feel much about a generic token £5 gift? I wonder f it wouldn’t be a waste of time unless the item was something meaningful to the group.

If you could stretch your budget to £7 these hand painted cards are utterly treasureable. (Also if you buy 6 you get another free.) Just acknowledge each volunteer’s individual effort and tell them how grateful you are.

Flowers are probably not a good idea atm anyway. In this heat they don't last long.

stonkytonk11 · 12/07/2026 08:41

Yes, coffee shop gift card…for Starbucks/costa is a nice treat. Even if not a coffee drinker they can get a sweet treat

Crole · 12/07/2026 08:51

You could buy 5 or 6 packs of different nice herbal and fruity teas that are individually wrapped in paper, mix them up and put them in those transparent cookie bags with a ribbon around them. So each person gets a selection bag of different teas.

Even if someone doesn't drink them, they'll have guests who would and they have a nice choice.

allymccoist · 12/07/2026 08:52

Ok thank you. Some good ideas here. Like the notebooks and will have a look in M&S also at succulents and biscuits!

Lidl have mini terrariums in this week for £4.99 and they are lovely. They looked quite small in the brochure but I went in store and they are much bigger than they looked and they are lovely, I picked up two and they contained two succulents each, soil, gravel etc. I got one for a brownie leader and one for myself!

Decorhate · 12/07/2026 09:30

M&S have bunches of sunflowers for £5. I'd be very pleased with that as a gift.
