Is anyone else's house a dark little tomb of dust and dead flies?

I dont think we've opened our curtains for the last month. The lounge patio doors face south so the curtains are permanently closed. We also have a triangular sail up outside that makes it even darker.

I haven't done any substantial cleaning during that time. I've aimed the broom in the vicinity of the floors occasionally,and squirted things in the general direction of the loos. Ive had to have a substantial lie down after all that effort.

All the windowsills are dusty and sad with dead flies. Everything is looking a little hungover and dusty. Is it just me but I cba to do anything about any of it whilst it's so hot.

Nope , we have fly screens ( roller blind type) on all of our opening windows which are an absolute saviour as it means no insects indoors and the windows can at least be opened overnight if not during the day . As it is I’m in the SE and it is really breezy here today .

I had grand plans to clean our disgusting house today but as it is I can barely move away from the fan. I AM going to get up and clean the bathroom (minus the floor) so it doesn’t feel like a totally wasted day. Tomorrow looks slightly cooler 🤞🏻

I'm in the north and have had my windows open all the time during the heatwave. As a result my house is dusty but all the flies are very much alive..

@Vroomfondleswaistcoat Same. I've had every door and window open for weeks with wind blowing through. We live at the seaside.

I've also got disgusting fly papers hanging in most rooms that are covered in dead flies.

Yep but no sun shining in means I cant see the dust.

I’ve worked in near darkness for the past week. It’s depressing too hot and bright outside, too hot and dark inside!

The sitting room is pretty dusty, and due for a clean tomorrow at 5am (the only time it's cool enough) but dead flies, no. Yukk

No, I have two robot hoovers, one upstairs, one down. That deals with most of the dust.

I wipe down all dusty surfaces about once a week but I do it in passing, not in one big session.

Note - I've raised the sofa, beds and units so the robot hoovers can get under them all or we end up with huge mounds of dog fur behind everything.

Not flies, our house collects ladybirds. It doesn’t tend to get dusty, but the animal hairs floating around will get bad. I don’t
hoover in the heat.

I went out on my roof to cover up my skylight and there’s a 2 inch ledge which is literally covered in fly corpses. I haven’t had the energy to get the Dyson out to suck em up yet.

my house looks like someone’s had a frat house party here and got raided. I have done nothing in weeks. It’s glorious.
