If you bought a house next to a hotel that has cockroaches, do you think they would spread to your house ?

Yes absolutely. Nasty little fuckers. Wouldn't touch it with a bargepole.

Newsenmum · 10/07/2026 17:21

Sorry but theyre probably already in the walls

beadystar · 10/07/2026 17:32

Yes. Apparently they can survive an apocalypse.

Troublein · 10/07/2026 17:34

I expect they are already in the house.

Error404FucksNotFound · 10/07/2026 17:37

I would assume they were already there.

PotteringAboutIn · 10/07/2026 17:41

Why ? Do you think they spread that far ? Do they travel that far ?

They can thrive outdoors especially during hot weather, so yes they could well end up travelling.

Ritaskitchen · 10/07/2026 17:45

Yes

exhaustedandoverit · 10/07/2026 17:46

Yep, we had them from next door in an old terrace house years ago. It was an absolute nightmare and nothing got rid of them. We moved out (rented).

whoopsnomore · 10/07/2026 17:46

Do NOT watch a 90s movie called Pacific Heights. 😱

Because that’s what cockroaches do. Yes they spread that far. Yes they travel that far.

Both this property and the hotel will need regular ongoing, professional, pest control and this isn’t cheap. Cockroaches are a health hazard, I would run for the hills myself.

SmallTreeDeepRoots · 10/07/2026 17:47

Not only are they already in the house, but if the hotel has not dealt with them even if you clear your house they would just come back. For cockroaches in a hotel to be known about means it is a big cockroach problem.

Yes they do, they’re very resilient. I wouldn’t buy a house next to somewhere that has cockroaches.

Newsenmum · 10/07/2026 18:03

Do you know what type? There is a difference.

PotteringAboutIn · 10/07/2026 21:10

Possibly German cockroaches
