Vinted - help I accidentally sent the wrong item, how do I resolve this for the poor buyers?

Just wondering if anyone knows what to do?
Entirely my fault but I sold several items and one was marked ‘black short’ and one ‘black shirt’ and I have sent the shirt to the shorts buyer and still have the shorts here as I realised too late.

Do I cancel both and refund and ask the buyer to not collect and it will come back? I hate messing anyone around and having sent over 50 items I stupidly didn’t have my glasses on today. Thanks in advance.

What I did was message them and ask them not to pick it up and it would get returned to me

Did you just refund them? I’m not sure how else to send it 🫣

The person you have sent incorrect to. Either ask them not to collect, it will come back and you can refund. Or ask them to collect and then raise an issue you can then pay for the return label.

When sorted you can then offer to resell them the item you wanted..

The person who hasnt got their item, you can cancel the transaction to refund them. Then offer to sell them the item again once you have had it back

Be prepared for buyer 1 to not return

Be prepared for neither buyer to want to buy the items again

I’ve done this before but sent both people the wrong item 🙈 I sent them both each others labels and they sent the parcels to each other and it was sorted quite easily 😁

I did the same recently! I asked them not to collect it, so it was returned time. Then I sent the correct item at my expense.

It took a while, but everyone was happy in the end.

Thanks everyone, I will reach out and be honest and ask the buyer to not collect and it can be returned. Then cancel both transactions and re-list if possible. Neither item is overly expensive, more annoyed with myself.

Somehow when I sent the person the wrong item they decided they’d buy the one I sent them too. I messaged apologising & they said not to worry.
Good luck op.

when this happened to me the buyers both very kindly posted to the other person. I refunded them which covered the postage costs.

Luckily low value so I only lost about £5-6

Both were so nice when I messaged. Have cancelled one sale and will wait for this to be returned then sort sending it. Lesson learnt for me!

You let two random strangers have each other's names and addresses?!

What’s the implication? The op is a random stranger to both of them, and they to her.

But surely everyone you buy from online is a a random stranger.

They were both happy with the agreement before I sent them 😁
