Would this bother you? Side of bed

Idk if I’m being precious but it bothers me that DH always lies on my side of the bed when he’s chilling in our room, which is a lot. The area gets all unkempt, pillows astrew and maybe even it’s sweaty. Also I’m the only one who makes the bed. The side is closest to the door though so maybe it’s just easier than walking around or scooting to his side. Would this bother you? I guess it feels a bit entitled and yes that is sort of his default setting.

Unless I also wanted to lay down, it wouldn’t bother me, even in that situation I’d just say move over.

Yogafiend · 10/07/2026 11:37

Yes it would bother me - personally. Have you asked him not to?

thejelliclecats · 10/07/2026 11:38

Yep, it would bother me - mess up your own side!

Hairsterical · 10/07/2026 12:30

Thanks. I did ask him not to but he seems unable to stop. Unwilling to stop.

It would annoy me that he leaves the bed messed up after full stop, but if he was that keen on that side, I would just swap sides, why don't you?

Gettingbysomehow · 10/07/2026 12:37

It would bother me but then Im impossible to live with.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 10/07/2026 12:56

It would bother me. I don’t like street clothes on the bed either. Mine lies diagonally which mildly irritates me 😆

LightlyRoamingOcelots · 10/07/2026 12:57

Is there any reason not to change things around so that becomes "his" side of the bed and you have the other side and can keep that how you like it?

fireandlightening · 10/07/2026 13:19

This would bother me, but lots of such stuff bothers me so I don't know if I am the benchmark - sweaty man in bed whichever side would also bother me, suitcases (rolled around town!) left open on my bed ditto, and the list goes on...:)

Nearly50omg · 10/07/2026 13:25

He’s marking his territory

Mycatmax · 10/07/2026 13:27

Tell him that’s his side of the bed now?

Hairsterical · 10/07/2026 14:17

I would just switch sides but his is next to his wardrobe. We could switch wardrobes but they have different hangings and storage. And his is always a mess so I’d rather not be near the overspill. It just really irks me that nothing came be “mine.” This is a symptom of a bigger issue around entitlement and the attitude of everything being about them. But I’d welcome a small win.

It wouldn’t bother me at all.

DramaAlpaca · 10/07/2026 14:39

That would bother me a lot.

OneLimePombear · 10/07/2026 14:49

I’m bothered on your behalf.

gotmyselfintoapickle · 10/07/2026 14:52

Maybe he likes your side best but is making a concession by letting you have it when you are there? Very odd thing to get wound up about IMO

Hairsterical · 10/07/2026 15:15

It's always rumpled and a mess. I make the bed every morning and like to get into a made bed. I think it really got to me in this heat wave when I'd pop in while making dinner, let's say. He's relaxing, in his pants, on my side of the bed. When he gets up, it's all sweaty, maybe a beer can on my bedside table. Pillows all mixed up. And he always helps himself to whatever is mine without asking, so it's a theme. I'm more into boundaries and knowing what's mine.

Keep your pillows out of sight until you want them, OP. Hide them!!!
I’m far too fussy about bedding, and this would have me burning the bed😁 I love a clean bed, good quality bedding and my own feather pillows with clean pillowcases every night, ( I dribble in my sleep..) DP doesn’t care about bedding and has horrible foam pillows. So I wouldn’t be putting up with sweaty bodies, beer cans or messed up bedding at all.

TessSaysYes · 10/07/2026 15:35

If he respects your happiness, then of course hopping to his own side is not a big ask

That would really annoy me too. I hate wrinkly beds, I hate sweaty wet beds,I hate male BO from sweating onto my pillows. BUT is this about side of bed or that you are doing things for the family (cooking/cleaning) while he's not helping?

Sparrowsandbudgies · 10/07/2026 15:37

Eewwww a sweaty man drinking beer on my side of the bed?! No thanks! 😳🤢

I am sure it's fine when he gets sweaty because they are being intimate, it's a bed! 😂

Okay this is getting worse and worse! This is really disrespectful of your preferences and space. Just because you are married doesn't mean he can spread his sweaty body all over the bed linen of a shared bed!
