Child’s passport validity confusion

We’re travelling to France on the 18th of July and it will be our first family holiday in many years. We will be flying home Saturday 1st August.

i have been obsessively checking the expiry dates of all our passports which are fine, but the whole issue date rule is confusing me for DS’s as most of the guidance is around the 10 years since issue for an adult passport.

DS’s was issued 13/07/2022 and will expire 13/07/2027

Can someone please confirm to me that his is ok for France as I cannot find a black and white answer for kids passports.

thank you so much!

He can travel into the EU until 12 April 2027.

It’s fine.

Children’s passports usually expire at 5 years so the “Passports issued longer than 10 yr ago rule” doesn’t apply to any children’s passports.

It's fine. It's less than 10 years since issued and has a year left to go. It's only passports issued before 2018 or up to then that is a problem.

Brilliant! Thank you so much!
that’s one less worry
