Just back from seeing 1536.

Looked for a thread to see if anyone else has discussed it.

Can see why it got 5 stars everywhere.

I agree. Saw it twice - at the Almeida and again when it transferred. It is one of the most powerful pieces I’ve ever seen. It showed how patriarchy and misogyny really haven’t changed much at all, without lecturing and completely believably.

Ava Pickett is such a talent, and still v young. She’s done a hilarious and clever adaptation of Emma and she has a new play called Bloodsport opening in September. She’s also writing a screenplay about Joan of Arc.

I'd seen her "Manningtree witches" and this had such close ties.

Not sure if the fact im from that area that it felt very close but the undercurrents and changes between the girls from the start to the end were breathtaking and I was sat on the edge of my chair near the end,

Loved the one liners and just women being women but the dark undertones that we've all felt in real life.

So glad I went and hope it will be extended soni can go again.
