Advice please - homegrown flowers for emergency wedding tomorrow

my partner is very ill and we have arranged an emergency housebound wedding for tomorrow. We aren’t doing anything fancy but I thought I would pick some flowers from the garden as a bouquet for me and maybe a few smaller little bunches on shelves / bookcase (we will mostly be indoors). What time of day is best to pick them? - the wedding is early afternoon. Are there any clever tips on arranging or keeping things fresh? I have a variety of things, mainly herby/ wildflower type stuff, no big showy blooms

As late as you can - ideally pick tomorrow 2-3 hours before at most. Then soak in water pulling out of the water as late as possible. It’s warm.

hope you can celebrate within the constraints of the situation, thinking of you

No real advice re flowers sorry (maybe pick in morning & keep in water somewhere cool?)
But did want to say I hope you have a beautiful wedding surrounded by your love & your home grown flowers & herbs xxx

Pick in the morning while it’s still coolish, as long stems as possible. Then plunge all the stems straight into deep water as quickly as possible after picking. When you’re ready to arrange them, cut the stems a little more to fit into each extra vase. For a bouquet, perhaps wrap in a bit of kitchen roll so you have something to hold. Just go with the flow, keep it natural and don’t overthink. they will look lovely.
I wish you all the very best ❤️

Cant add to the advice above except to say.
Have you got a water bottle sprayer? that would help keep them fresh.
It sounds like a wonderful idea to have your garden flowers.
Best wishes for a lovely day

Thanks everyone for the advice and good wishes - we’ve kept it a bit of a secret so is lovely to have people say nice things. The flower tips are also all really welcome ☺️

My very best wishes for tomorrow, Op xx

Things tend to flop when they have a lot of foliage, so consider stripping some of the foliage off the flowers and adding foliage separately. If you use waxier things for foliage, these lose water less quickly.

Best wishes for tomorrow. Am I wrong in thinking you can put cut flowers in the fridge? I’m sure we did this for my cut price May wedding, about 11 years ago. We gave them a water source and stuck them in the vegetable drawer!

This a lovely post OP as it will be such a wonderful day for both of you. No advice on flowers but I imagine any home grown flowers are a great idea. I send my love to both of you.
