Off to IKea this evening. What do I need? I don’t need any big furniture type purchases but need some inspiration of things to buy when I’m there.

Cuddly toys and train track 😃

I always used to get meatballs but they sell them cheaper in Tesco.
I still get the meatball gravy at IKEA though.

Out Granddaughter has the panda stuffed toy, she’s had several over the years and has kept them all. It’s fascinating looking at the various stages of decay of a stuffed toy over 8 years 🤣

Do they still do their pizza? That’s nice.
also, houseplants

Purplecatshopaholic · 08/07/2026 11:47

Kallax units. You can never have enough, lol. Plants, maybe a kitchen gadget..

Xiaoxiong · 08/07/2026 11:47

I always seem to pick up:
Ziploc bags
Bag clips
Candles
Picture frames
Houseplants
Lightbulbs
Fairy lights for teen rooms
Glass tupperware (much better for heating in microwave than plastic)
Crisps
Coffee
Frozen salmon portions
Dill sauce for smoked salmon
Squeezy mustard and ketchup

A coffee and a cheesecake in the cafe!

What are you going for? I usually find inspiration wandering around looking for what took me there in the first place. I go in for a bookcase and come out with a tonne of stuff I didn’t need or particularly want until I saw it. Kitchen ware is my weakness, there’s always a thing that jumps into my trolley unbidden.

DurhamDurham · 08/07/2026 12:33

@XiaoxiongThat’s a great list! I didn’t realise they sold salmon portions, will pick some of those up.

@JellycatspyjamasI’m not going for anything specifically, I tagging along with a new home owner who needs a lot of things. I’ll have to buy things for own home too, need to make the most of a trip Smile

@PurplecatshopaholicI think if I buy more Kallax units my husband will leave me. I have them in several rooms. My favourite Kallax is in my kitchen. Didn’t have enough cupboard space and a new kitchen is a longer term ambition. I’ll try to upload a photo.

Picture frames? They are a fraction of the price of framers.

Bedding. Best cotton duvet covers for the price.

I bet they do lovely small things like facial electric fans and plant misters to keep you cool. Not been for ages.

A new socktopus in the latest colour.

MrsTomRipley · 08/07/2026 12:40

salted liquorice, washing up gloves

DurhamDurham · 08/07/2026 12:47

Plant misters is a good one. Might use that when I’m hot 🤣

I think green may be the latest one. Shame. I've red, white and aqua.

MagpiePi · 08/07/2026 12:51

Washing up brushes.
They're only 50p each and last longer than any of the others.

I need to stock up but hate going to IKEA!
