I’m not wasteful because I hate waste - but one thing that pisses me off no end in that if, for example, someone on tik-tok orders five lots of cookies or whatever to try for a video, there’s so loser saying “there are starving people in the world” and “food banks in Britain are struggling right now”. This makes genuinely no sense. Because no one’s shipping left over m and s cookies to deprived countries - and even if they were, that doesn’t solve the root cause of food insecurity. And those cookies are there to be bought and enjoyed.
and for our food banks, where’s the obligation for that person to donate the cookies instead? It would be nice if they did but they don’t. Instead, those cookies were never going to help feed a deprived family. Neither is freezer waste etc. it’s wasteful and bad for the environment - but food insecurity is usually due to wealth inequality, geographical restrictions, etc.
or am I missing something?
