What food can I do?

On Saturday I’m going to a friend’s birthday party from 3:30pm, but will be coming home at 7pm because I’m having three people around for drinks and the match.

Given I’m coming straight from a party and won’t want to cook, what food can I do for them?

Easy solution is frozen pizzas in oven, cheese board/charcuterie plate and some sort of dessert you knock up in advance?

Middlemarch123 · 07/07/2026 17:38

I think I’d probably make something in the morning before the party that I could then just heat up. chilli? nice salad, dips, nachos, garlic bread. Then a cheesecake or something for pudding.

Definitely pizzas garlic bread and salad.

And loads of snacks for picking at
crisps
popcorn
pretzels

Plenty of drinks, tons of soakage, honey and lemon for the after shouting throats. Job done. Enjoy, what a nice day you have in store!

Pick up a large ready made lasagne or even two, oven chips and or/garlic bread
Have crisps, peanuts/ olives/cold meats/breadsticks etc

Then something like mini icecream pops.

Thanks everyone!

I would prefer not to have to even turn the oven on. Would people be happy if I done a cooked ham and roast chicken and put them out cold with bread, butter and potato salad? Or do I need to have something hot?

I'd be happy with that, no way is my oven going on this weekend with the temps we're expecting

Idontjetwashthefucker · 07/07/2026 19:23

I'd do a big green salad too

SquigglePigs · 07/07/2026 19:29

Could you make a lasagne the day before then all you have to do is shove it in the oven and serve with garlic bread and a bag of salad leaves?

I don’t think it would be eaten. I was considering a Caesar but one is vegan.

If ones vegan how will ham and chicken help? I would just order some pizzas

AtleastitsnotMonday · 07/07/2026 19:34

It’s going to be a got weekend, no issue going with cold food. I’d do a seafood platter, a cheese board, ciabatta, olives, crudités, dips, crisps.

Do you live in the middle of nowhere or something?! Surely this is why takeaways were invented!

This would be lovely. Especially on a warm evening with a green salad/Coleslaw too.

I would obviously get a vegan option for her.

Takeaway will make the people coming feel obliged to pay.
