Is it a bit late to change next years uniform expectations?

Spent the last two weekends rounding up all the uniform for next year, my children seem to be strange shapes so I have to get different bits from different shops to get a good fit - plus I like to take advantage of the 20% sales that various places do.

Anyway all ready to go and school emailed this morning that they are making changes to the uniform for next year and polos are to be in a different colour going forward.

The caveated saying that anything they already have can be worn till outgrown but I have bought the old colour obviously with growing room!

It's not that big of a deal, slightly annoying if anything, not the end of the world. Of course I could take them back/exchange but that just adds more faff in than needed when life is already busy.

Just think it is a bit late in the day to be changing things, most of the parents I know are already pretty much done with uniform shopping for next year!

Yes, it's late, but as you can keep wearing what you have, or take it back, it's not that much of a deal, surely?

I think it's unusual to have all the school uniform sorted before the summer holidays; the parents you know are definitely not the norm!

@redskyAtNigh as I said its not a big deal just slightly annoying, I buy with growing room so it will be a while before these polos don't fit!

The shops round us are ravaged of uniform so I don't think it is just people I know, I think a lot of people used the ASDA and m&s sale!

We got only 2 weeks' notice to tell us uniform was only going to be required 3 days a week and PE kit to be worn all day for the other two days. Loads of uniform already bought now not needed because they don't need as much and I had to find a full spare set of PE stuff at short notice to cover the second day of that.

Yes, I’d be very pissed off with school management for being so bloody disorganised! This sort of thing should be notified in January to start the following September.

We suddenly had PE on 2 consecutive days during second year of secondary school so that meant buying a second set of PE kit as they wear it all day.

DS has now stopped wearing the white formal shirts and instead wears a white long sleeved t shirt under his school jumper. No-one has mentioned it so I guess that will save me buying new white shirts for next year.

We started school holidays in May so it’s normal to buy the school uniform in June.

I think it isn't ideal but it is ok as they have allowed for a transition period.
Hopefully this transition will be at least 1 academic year, if not 2.

@DappledThings we had that last year 2 weeks into term! We ended up with surplus uniform, luckily we had enough PE kid because I was lazy originally and bought the multipacks!

So you sort the school uniform in the summer holidays, which is exactly what I said.

(Sounds like OP's school hasn't finished for the summer anyway, so not really relevant here).
