Why are my teeth suddenly aching?

It's not toothache, not a pain in one tooth, all my teeth ache. A dull ache/sensitivity, similar to that you get after a few days with whitening gels, although I haven't done any of that recently.

I get that when I have a sinus infection coming on

ToadRage · 06/07/2026 13:14

You may have been grinding them in your sleep. I get this in times of stress.

FoundAUserNameDownTheSofa · 06/07/2026 13:16

If it’s just my top teeth (or one side of my top teeth) it’s my sinuses, sometimes just the start of a cold not necessarily a big sinus infection

I have had this - turns out that it was an ear infection.

If all my teeth ache, it’s usually a sign I’m getting (or fighting) a cold starting up, sinus issues, a throat infection or ear infection.
I mentioned it to my dentist and he said it’s normal, as all the parts are linked - ears, throat, nose etc.

When Covid was rife, it was a very real and painful symptom.

Keep on the painkillers! 🌺

All my teeth aching is a sign of covid for me.

YerMasYerDa · 06/07/2026 13:38

I get something like that if I have grazes in my mouth (particularly the roof of my mouth) or on my gums, usually from eating something abrasive or being a bit over zealous with the toothbrush. Even if it’s only a couple of patches, it feels like it’s my whole mouth and shooting through all my teeth. Referred pain I guess. Or I’m just weird😆 I’m also a grinder and that can cause aching teeth too.

I grind and clench and sometimes get bad pain in my teeth.
I found putting Orajel on my gums helps. Numbs it but it's still pretty horrible.

Xanadu78 · 06/07/2026 13:49

I have this at the moment! a delightful bout of sinusitus!

whiteboard · 06/07/2026 13:52

Clenching with me for sure. Recently split a tooth I’ve been grinding so hard!

Beamsss · 06/07/2026 13:52

Well, none of that sounds like good news 🤣

I get this when I'm run down/coming down with something. My gums are my body's first sign of weakness for me

Larrythecatforpm · 06/07/2026 14:01

Whitening strips can do this, they damage the enamel and make gums sensitive.

MNLurker1345 · 06/07/2026 14:06

I had this, I thought I was clenching or grinding while sleeping. Went to the dentist, needed 2 RCF, all gone, much better but poorer.

VimesandhisCardboardBoots · 06/07/2026 14:25

Yeah, that's usually a sign that I'm about to get some form of lurgy for me as well.

I don't think it can be anything to do with my actual teeth because I had a check up and xrays 3 weeks ago.

i changed my toothrbush recently and my teeth ached so bad for a week and couldnt work out why! they became insanely sensitive too.
i went back to super soft brush and all gone within a day 😩

HarryKanesonfire · 06/07/2026 15:13

I get this a bit if I use Corsodyl instead of Sensodyne. Could be your toothpaste.
