Recommendations for a UK summer holiday with older teens

Firstly I know this is probably meant to go in a different forum, but have posted there before and no replies.
I need ideas on which parts of the UK(ideally not SW as we live there) could we go in the summer hols. We have a 18,16 16 teens. Ideally somewhere picturesque, nearby somewhere they can wander around with things to do.
Where have you been on holiday you have really enjoyed with teens? Or maybe you live somewhere you would recommend. Thanks in advance!.

North Yorkshire. We had a lovely family holiday in Whitby.

My first thought with teens is to head to London! Stay in the Covent Garden Travelodge and go to a different area each day; climb the Shard and lunch at Borough Market; matinee show from the half price ticket booth; including some more chilled activities like the Clipper boat out to Greenwich.

But it’s true it’s expensive and busy. Maybe Zip World in Wales?

Thank you! I will have a look at Whitby!

The Lake District, but maybe staying in Keswick or Kendal

Just caution Whitby. I took my young teen there and had a 30 odd year old following he around. Felt very seedy.

Really depends on the teens and what they like to do. I wouldn’t have wanted to go to a UK seaside with my parents at that age and would have found it boring. Only exception being Brighton.

City break might be of more interest to teens, London, Manc or Edinburgh. Could tie it in with the Fringe festival.

My first thought was Keswick - it’s a great base for the Lake District. But I imagine it will be busy in the summer and places like Ambleside and Windermere will be absolutely rammed.

If you do Whitby you could also venture into York easily, which is such a fantastic city for anyone. Impossible not to love it

Newcastle has a lot to offer and you can easily get the metro to the coast.
My teens always enjoy a visit to York, good mix of history and shopping.
