Best late-night route home from the O2 after a concert

Can anyone help with the best way home from the O2 late at night?

I recently saw Harry Styles at Wembley and it took us about 3 hours to get home to just south of London (should have taken about 90 minutes) largely cos of being stuck in a queue for the tube station for ages, then the tube train stopping early and having to switch lines, which all meant the mainline trains got less frequent as it got later past midnight. I don't know that area of London well so didn't know if there was a better way home and didn't want to wander randomly with teen DD.

We are going to the O2 in a few months and I want to avoid a repeat if the station is just as busy and we don't get out of the arena quick enough to beat it... Is North Greenwich the only option for getting out of the area? I don't mind walking to another station if I know beforehand and can plan where to go. We would be aiming for London Bridge, Victoria or St Pancras to get a train home.

O2 is much much better for getting out of than Wembley! They are really well organised with the tube. North Greenwich is the only station but it’s never taken me more than 30 mins to get on a tube from leaving my seat. It’s an absolute nightmare when the tubes are on strike because it’s basically the only route that’s workable for the rest of the tube network but if the tube is running they put on trains once a minute and move people into the station very effectively!

Your best bet is then London Bridge- it’s about 15 mins on the Jubilee, which is the only line that serves North Greenwich.

I saw Robyn at the 02 last night and drove back from car park 1 to East Sussex in 90 minutes. It was a joy.

Never have any problem at North Greenwich. It’s nothing like Wembley. Hint - if the platform is very busy, take a train one stop in the other direction. Then you can get on an empty train,
