Travelling to the EU with ADHD medication: do we need to declare it?

DS started ADHD meds earlier this year so we’re very new to this. Do we have to declare the meds when travelling to the EU? I know we have to tell the travel insurance. But do we need to tell Customs?

She needs a letter from the prescriber. Only take the amount needed for the holiday in the original labelled blister pack or pill packet. It varies by country but usually the letter says what the pills are, for whom and who prescribed them. Signed by doctor and on headed paper.
You don’t need to declare it.
If you are stopped by customs (unlikely) then mention it and show the letter.

My wife takes of prescription medication, we just take the prescription with us, never been asked what they are. Thinking about we probably should take boxs but we normally just take a weeks worth in the pill container she uses at home.

My son has ADHD and takes medication. We have never been asked about it when travelling inside or outside the EU.

You need to check the country you are going to because some adhd meds are banned or restricted so you need special permission. I believe Japan has this requirement for example

I’ve never taken a letter. Ideally you’d have the box with name etc but I’ve never ever been asked to explain anything about it whatsoever.
