Has anyone had ears re-pierced through old holes with scar tissue?

Thinking of getting my ears re pierced but wondering if the would go through the same holes? On one side there is a faint lump where the old closed up hole is. Can they go back through if it’s like that? Not sure I want two holes right next to each other as while it’s closed up it still looks like a hole.

any re pierced?

Got mine re-pierced about 5 years ago, I hadn't had earrings in for about 10 years before that. There was no issue at all, went through the old holes I think, I definitely don't have two holes

I got mine redone recently after decades. They first tried to see if the old holes were still there (but “hidden” by grown over skin). There was nothing to they just made new holes. It was a place that does a lot of piercing and uses needle rather than a gun.

Are you sure there isn't still a way through? I've just reopened one of mine after many years with a small stud. Bit of antiseptic and it seems fine.

Yes I’ve been re-pierced twice. I heal quickly but both times it was after quite a few months of not wearing earrings. I had scar tissue. Both places were using a needle rather than a gun. No problems at all either time.

I bought a DIY kit on eBay. I just wiped with antiseptic wipe, and used a mirror to punch back through same hole, wiped with another antiseptic wipe that comes with kit, then immediately put in 9 CT gold sapphire studs I had soaked in detol first. I had no issues whatsoever. It didn't hurt at all. I just twisted them two or 3 times each day for a week.

Make sure you go to a proper piercing place to get it done, with a needle.

Thanks for the replies, sounds like it should be ok! I definitely can’t get an earring through, but I’m a bit of a wimp so it maybe that rather than it’s impossible.
There is a place in town that comes recommended and they use a needle so sounds like the place to go. I haven’t worn earrings for years but feel like a change.

I hadn’t worn earrings for several years, and was wondering whether to get my ears re-pierced. But someone told me just to smear Vaseline on the earring posts, and they’d go in.

And they did! It took a little bit of wiggling, but all absolutely fine.
