Holiday - don’t leave home without….

Every time I go on holiday there are things I kick myself for not bringing so I’m adding them to my packing list (I have a word doc that I print off before each holiday so I don’t forget anything). Was interested to see what other things might get suggested that might be small but significantly improve my experience.
My list;

  • suction hooks - there’s never enough hooks or places to hang things. Towels, night robe, (yes I have a very lightweight holiday robe), shower puffs. Just stuff I prefer to hang than be dumped on the floor.
  • clothes pegs so my wet stuff does fly off the balcony
  • a few zip lock bags so I can bring kids snacks out for the day and don’t have to keep buying stuff
  • bag clips for food bags to keep in apartment.
  • plastic mug - because I can not live without a cuppa in the morning and I can’t abide the shitty little tea cups they give you
  • sun cream - because I always forget and end up paying a fortune for some

what else would you not leave without?

Imodium and anti vomiting pills. It only took needing them once…

Handwashing liquid (dr Beckmann), insulatied water bottle, water proof bags to pack in (rather specific this one as we travel by motorbike) finally remember they have shops where you are going!

Pop up laundry bin.

Gateappreciation · 02/07/2026 14:42

If self catering, tea towels

I never travel without my mini sound machine, a pack of antihistamines, diarrhea tablets, indigestion tablets, a tick remover, a couple of tupperware containers, ziploc bags, rubber gloves, teatowels, microfibre cloths, a couple of bin bags, a USB powerbank and a torch.

Yes to the ziplocks and hooks!
Extra coat hangers, it’s a rare day I find there’s enough. A pack of cards.
My metal water bottle. I like my drinks to stay cold and bug free.
Laundry soap leaves for handwashing swimwear and undies.
Antihistamines and a bite clicker.
Carrier bag for wet beach stuff on the last day.
Surf shoes if you’re not exclusively by a pool or on pure sand. Hate pebbles underfoot and they’re much easier to walk in than flip flops if you have wet feet.

There are many more but that’s enough of my issues for one post!

purplecorkheart · 02/07/2026 15:24
