Cones have appeared outside my house

More accurately 4 cones and a no parking sign, spead across the frontage of my house and one neighbour.

We're opposite a school and parking can be a problem, although I have no issues unless they park across my drive. The cones are set up to prevent any parking in front of the two houses. We have wide frontages, so it's 3/4 spaces blocked. There are another 5 houses that have simular issues at school times but no cones.

It looks like I'm trying to prevent any parking and I'm not. I haven't even complained (recently) about parking across the drive.

I don't know where the cones came from.

I know it seems a stupid thing to worry over, but unless you've experienced it you wouldn't believe how agressively nasty parents can be about parking outside school, and they know where I live!

Neighour is an elderly widower with dementia and live in carers, but there's no one in atm. I'm reluctant to move them in case there's a big reason they're needed.

Maybe the school put them there in an attempt to help.

Are there any roadworks or utility signs, ring the council, no one can just deny access, stop or prohibit parking in front of a property without good reason.

Why wouldn't people think the cones had been out out by or at the request of the residents.

OP, what exactly do you expect the MN masses to respond with? Obviously we can’t tell you who put the cones out or what people will think. The obvious thing to do is go to the school and ask if it was them.

I've seen cones put in for big deliveries (as in home renovation level of delivery), funerals (for the cortage) and moving vans. Could any of those be taking place? How long have they been there?

Post a pic if you want but that's identifiable, if they are not official then it's people fecking around, when did they appear, have you got ring or cctv.

Snychance the school hasput them out for a coach? A school near me does that.

Are you sure your neighbour is still alive or has been moved to a home? It sounds like the sort of thing people do when removals vans are coming?

My first thought someone is moving and put them there for the truck. Have you asked the school if they put them there?

It did cross my mind, but I'm on fairly regular contact with his daughter and I think she'd have let me know.

You never know when a parking cone will come in handy.

Maybe a next level CF has left them out when leaving the school run this morning to pre bag a place for pick up?

school coach was my first thought too, or a big vehicle coming onto school property. You'd have thought they would speak to you though.

Usually people put something like House Move or Tree Works, which might have explained things.

Wouldn't leave a good cone just sitting on the road.

Is it likely to be the people that live opposite, perhaps parking there makes it difficult for them to get out of their driveway?

@Beamsssolease keep an eye out at school pickup time and see if some CF parents come along to park then report back. I’m far too invested in this now.
