uc review not sure what to expect to be honest. I don’t have any savings but have had a few payments here or there past couple of months for my daughters tuition which have been cash deposits through my Monzo but now her gcses have finished I obviously won’t have these payments now… should I have told them I don’t really know??

my Monzo has always just been for Vinted and selling and a few odd bits and bobs.

How much did you receive?

Thatsquark · 01/07/2026 18:00

And you’d declared the monzo account?

Kittykat313 · 01/07/2026 18:07

One payment was £200 and other £70

For my birthday I got £400 from my mum and sister between them and put that in but never had anything else

No never declared because I’ve never really used and there’s never been anything in it really.

That was a mistake
they ask for all accounts in your name and the balance even if 3p

So why used now?

Write in your online journal….

“I’ve realised I forgot to declare a Monzo account when I made my claim. It was an honest mistake. The account has mainly been used for payments from Vinted and occasional transfers from family. I’d like to update my claim and provide any information you need.”

It’s way below the £6000 savings you are allowed & the money has also been used already.

Just to add, don’t tell them “I didn’t declare it because I never really used it” cause that’s clearly not true - you do use, hence the Vinted payments & family transferring into it, it will just lead to more questions

Because at the time my bank card was buggered and i had no other access to a card. Don’t have credit cards…. I had no choice!

Still should have declared it

you were asked to list all accounts and balances
so you list all accounts and balances whether that balance is empty or not

Kittykat313 · 01/07/2026 18:36

Silly mistake I guess but I have nothing to hide and it shows on the statement what it’s used for. I’ll have to just hope I’m not penalized

well if nothing to hide
you’ll be absolutely fine

Inthezone5578 · 01/07/2026 18:45

Just tell them
They're not after stuff like this. Calm down

BurnoutBee · 01/07/2026 18:46

It will be fine you’ll just have to provide statements. I forgot to tell them about a savings account of mine. If they ask for the details at the review they’re welcome to them. I think there’s 6p in it.

mybathistoohot · 01/07/2026 18:51

I had a review a few weeks ago, also my first. I forgot to declare 2 savings accounts (both with very, very small amounts in. Sub £100 in each for example) and they just asked me to send statements after the call - fine.
I also had 2 large payments into my account from relatives for a family holiday I’d booked for us all and I needed to clear the balance - they didn’t question these transactions at all despite them totalling £2000. They questioned a few £20 here, £15 there transactions instead.

I’d actually been claiming too little as I’d made a mistake when applying which has since been sorted.
the review itself was fine, they’re simply asking you questions, it’s not an interrogation. You’ll be ok!

Kittykat313 · 01/07/2026 19:22

So you reckon just tell them there and then about my Monzo account when they do the review… instead of informing them now?

when is the review?
yes, just be upfront.

on your journal…
in advance of my review, please find details of an account that was mistakenly not included in my initial UC application.
