Our car insurance is due for renewal. It’s a multi car policy which is hugely expensive so I am shopping around. The second car is the car DS has been learning to drive in - his test is next month.

Assuming he passes, we will look at taking out a policy in his own name.

Quotes as they stand at the moment are about £35/40 a month cheaper than the multi car policy renewal. That’s DS as a learner driver.

Is it possible to take out a new policy for 3 weeks and then change it if DS passes? Renewal is 12 July. Test is 4 August.

It's best to talk to the companies,but I used to borrow my landlord s car from time to time and it was £30 a day with a three day minimum. Different circumstances as I had passed my test but I don't see wh not.

Generally they can write any policy, if you are prepared to pa6 5ne premium
