Is PortAventura worth visiting, and can we manage both parks?

I'm on holiday at the moment about 50mins by train from Port Aventura and my kids (8-15) are desperate to visit.
We've never been before and I see there's a theme park and a water park.
Those who have been - is it worth a visit? Should we try to do both in a day?
I was thinking of going later in the day eg 2pm-9pm.
Good plan?

No you won’t do both in a day. Mine absolutely loved it we have been twice and it’s great fun. I’ve never bothered with the water park or the Ferrari land part. There is a fireworks show just before it closes which I think is at about 10ish. I remember being there for it years ago pre DC and it was fab but my past two visits we were gone by then.

I was thinking of getting the day ticket for the water park and the evening ticket for the theme park from 5pm?

You won't do it all in one day, go for a day at portaventura it is good

We stayed at the resort a few years ago. We used to go to the theme park in the evening and water park during the day, over several days.

The theme park was a lot quieter in the evening but you probably wont do it all in an evening. A day possibly, depending on how long a day you want and how busy it is.

The theme park is too good/big to just do in an evening, you would need two days minimum to do it all justice, I'd go to Portaventura for the whole day.

The water park is great! Walk past the lockers at the entrance though which have big queues.

Love both, been lots of times (port aventura and costa caribe, not the ferrari), 8 and 15 perfect ages. Also been to Disney loads and prefer PA. You defo need a full day at PA, no point going in for less, it is big. If you are there now, it won't be the peak peak time, but it will be busy, and queuing for rides does take time.

It is great, I stayed for 4 nights at one of the hotels on site. Definitely worth doing, we loved the theme park, did Ferrariland one day and the water park another.

Do they have fast passes?

I've been to theme parks all over the world and still prefer the rides at Port Adventura.
